Biography

Yeh-Chung Chang, M.D., is an Infectious Disease Specialist at Children’s Health℠ and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He has a special interest in the prevention, evaluation and treatment of viral and fungal infections in patients who are immunocompromised or have weakened immune systems. This includes patients who have received a solid organ transplant, a stem cell transplant, or are undergoing chemotherapy.

“The immune system does an amazing job of fighting infections,” Dr. Chang said. “But sometimes, we need to change the immune system to help a transplant work or to treat cancer. When we do that, we create vulnerabilities that germs can take advantage of. The good news is that we have many weapons to help prevent and treat infections.”

I very much enjoy the team aspect of transplant medicine and immunocompromised infectious disease care and working with other specialists to help prevent and treat infections.
Dr. Chang

Dr. Chang earned his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He then completed his residency in Pediatrics at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas- UT Southwestern Medical Center and a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

“I very much enjoy the team aspect of transplant medicine and immunocompromised infectious disease care and working with other specialists to help prevent and treat infections,” Dr. Chang said.

Dr. Chang is involved with research and has conducted studies about how to better treat and prevent viral and fungal infections in people who are immunocompromised.

Outside of work, Dr. Chang enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He also enjoys hiking and trying new restaurants.
